Mary Lee Augustus was born to the late Mr. James Arthur Augustus, Jr. and Mrs. Rosie Mae Augustus, October 9, 1956 in Fort Valley, Georgia.
Mary grew up in Fort Valley, Georgia where she was educated in the public schools of Peach County. “Mary Lee,” as she was affectionately known by those closest to her, was a very wise, loving, caring, and compassionate jewel. She was loved by so many and had an enormous heart, with a gift for encouraging others.
She worked as a devoted Social Worker at the Kay Community Service Center for the developmentally disabled for 27 years. She also worked an additional 12 years as an Early Childhood educator and administrator at Miracle’s Learning World Day Care Center in Fort Valley, Georgia. Because of her dedication, she earned numerous outstanding service awards throughout her career. Also known as “Miss Personality,” she will be remembered most by her friendly gestures and impromptu gospel singing. If you knew her, you knew that she always kept a song of praise in her heart.
Mary’s life was characterized by the following: She was an uplifting encourager. Having been reared in ministry, her passion for the Word of God was truly an inspiration to all who knew her. The ministerial calling on her life by God was a test of her faith.
Her devotion and love for God were laden in service at Greater Faith Babies Ministries, Inc. in Fort Valley, Georgia, where she served on the Outreach Ministry team. Mary was heavily involved with several functions of outreach, but the food and clothing bank outreach were most dear to her heart. With her help as well as the help of others, this ministry has grown tremendously over the years. When speaking with other parishioners, it always excited her to hear about other outreach ministries they were involved within the community. As so, she leaves behind a great legacy of kingdom servitude.
She was preceded in death by her three siblings, Willie Arthur Augustus, Larry Lee Augustus, and Rosa Lee Price.
Mary entered into the presence of the Lord, October 19th, 2022 at the Atrium Health Navicent Medical Center in Macon, Georgia.
Her best memories are left to be forever cherished by her two children: Marcus (Shawna) Early of Warner Robins, GA; Marla (Joseph) Cannon of Fort Valley, GA; three brothers: Johnny Augustus of Fort Valley, GA; Jesse James (Catherine) Augustus of Greensboro, NC; and Jessie Lee Augustus of Fort Valley, GA; a devoted aunt, Betty-Jean (Willie) Leary of Fort Valley, GA; five grand-children: Marcus Early, Jr. and Meghan Early of Warner Robins, GA; André Carter, Nicholas Carter and Nubian Cannon of Fort Valley, GA; two nieces: Deborah Price-Fuller (Charles) of Columbus, GA and Janice Price-Smith of Warner Robins, GA; a nephew, Keith Pinkett of Fort Valley, GA; a devoted great-niece, Stacey (Bennie) Boatman of Fort Valley, GA; one dear and devoted friend, Mother Annie Marshall of Byron, GA; and a host of other relatives and friends.
