Mrs. Alice Burke Brannon Gordon, daughter of the late Reverend O.W. Burke and Leola Felton Burke was born in Macon County, Montezuma, Georgia entered into eternal rest on Friday, February 11, 2022 at the Piedmont Coliseum Hospital, Macon, Georgia. At an early age she accepted Christ and joined the St. Paul Baptist Church. At the time of her demise she was a member of Antioch South Baptist Church, Atlanta, Georgia.
Alice received her earlier years education at Flint River Farms School, Montezuma, GA; after moving to Atlanta she did further studies and enrolled in a local Medical Career Program.
Alice was a beautiful person with a beautiful personality; she enjoyed meeting and talking with everyone she came in contact with; to Alice “a stranger was a friend she was just meeting.” As her health continued to decline, she held on to her faith; God encamp His Angel around her and she always returned home safe and sound and ready to go again. The 4th Sunday in August was Homecoming at Brown Chapel Baptist Church, Montezuma, GA and it was indeed a joyous time for her as she greeted the people she grew up with and called each one of them by name as she tilted her head to the side, which was always adorn with a beautiful hat and a beautiful smile. If you knew Alice in any capacity you knew “RED” was her favorite color!
Alice met the man of love for life; Alice and Johnny Gordon were united in Holy Matrimony. For better, for worse; in sickness and in health they enjoyed many years of marriage bliss. They enjoyed worshipping and serving the Lord together; afterward they sat down and dine on a delicious meal to their choosing.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Reverend O.W. Burke and Leola F. Burke; her son, Kem Topika Burke; two brothers: O.T. Burke and Henry Lee Burke.
Late Friday night, February 11, 2022, God looked into the soul of our beloved and whispered” Weeping may endure for the night but joy comes in the morning, eternal rest is granted to you. Come on home my child and take your rest and she peacefully made her transition.
