Mr. Paul “Smoky” Washington, Jr.

When I come to the end of the road and the sun has set for me.  I want no rites in a gloom-filled room, Why cry for a soul set free?  Miss Me But Let Me Go…

Mr. Paul “Smoky” Washington, Jr. one of three children was born January 29, 1934, in Louisville, Georgia to the parentage of Mr. Paul and Mrs. Carter Holmes Washington, Sr.  He was educated in the County Public Schools System.

Paul worked many years for the City of Fort Valley.  During the course of his life; he enlisted in the United States Navy; after serving his Country well, he returned to Fort Valley. 

He was united in Holy Matrimony to Miss Deola Gooden.  They celebrated many years of marriage bliss.

The life of Paul will forever be remembered for his straightforwardness; yet with an easy-going personality. He Had a love for beauty which lead him to become a dedicated partner with his wife at Dee’s Flowers and Gifts Shop; Paul was a firm believer in “Say it Best with flowers”  and he made sure his deliveries were always on time. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; three children: Sondra Washington, Dwayne Washington, and Sheryl Jackson; siblings: Thelma Combs and Justin Washington.

The Early Tuesday morning of June 10, 2021, Paul’s early tour of duty came to end while inpatient at Taylor County Health and Rehabilitation Center.

His survivors are a very devoted and loving wife, Deola G. Washington; three children: Paul (Edith), Louisville, GA, William (Bobbie) Washington, Hephzibah, GA and Charlene (Charlie) Hilton, Louisville, GA; a devoted sister-in-law, Betty J. Causey, Fort Valley, GA; one brother-in-law, David R. Gooden, Macon, GA; devoted nieces: Brenda Jones, Augusta, GA, Janet Patterson, Louisville, GA; a devoted nephew, Jerry Causey, Fort Valley, GA; a host of other relatives and many sorrowing friends.
