With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Mr. Freddie Lee McGhee, Jr. "Watergate" Freddie was born on November 23, 1951 in Fort Valley, Georgia to the late Mr. Freddie Lee
McGhee, Sr. and Mrs. Ruby Lee Marshall McGhee.
Freddie attended the public schools in Peach County. He graduated from H.A. Hunt High School.
He was known as being quick and was excellent with using his hands. In fact, he was so quick that he will be remember during his football days as a running back in Peach County. He was known for putting the football in the End Zone.
Freddie held many jobs over the course of his life. In fact, he traveled to city to city working with different companies. He was a skilled laborer. He worked as a tree surgeon and worked in the agricultural field. He spent many years doing seasonal work in Canton, Alabama.
His favorite past times were enjoying his family and friends, partying, spending time in nature, and just having a good time. He especially loved watching his great nephew, Jaquez Jackson, play football on television with Georgia Tech.
On Thursday, February 3, 2022, Freddie heard the Master's call and peacefully made his transition to be with his Savior.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. Freddie McGhee, Sr. and Mrs. Ruby Lee Marshall McGhee, two brothers, Willie Frank McGhee and Curtis McGhee, a sister, Julia Mae Jackson, and a daughter, Heisha Saffold.
He leaves to cherish his loving memories: a daughter, El'Sharonika Taylor, Fort Valley, GA; three brothers, Bobby McGhee, Macon, GA, Kenneth McGhee, Jacksonville, FL, and Lee Williams, Roberta, GA; four sisters, Evangelist Linda (Kenny) Barnes, Mary (Richard) McGhee Smith, all of Fort Valley, GA; Teresa (Carlton) Shine, and a devoted sister, Delores Cohen, all of Warner Robins, GA; three grandchildren, Jamarian Statham, Kelton Saffold, Detravian Neal, all of Fort Valley, GA; a host of great-grandchildren, other relatives, a devoted friend, Randolph Williams, and many sorrowing friends.
