Mr. Melvin Bernard Nixon, Sr., also known as "6'9" was born to the parentage of Annie Lou Nixon and RC Postell on April 16, 1962 in Macon County, Georgia. Melvin was educatd in the Public Schools of Macon County: Lamson-Richardson Elementary and Macon County High School.
Melvin was offered the "Plan of Salvation" and he freely acceptd the Lord, Jesus Christ as his personal Savior.
Melvin was a very loving and caring individual with a heart of gold, lined with a bucket of tears; he was strong - but tender hearted. He loved football and basketball; his favorited NFL team was the Dallas Cowboys. Melvin had his own basketball team: he played hard and fair, he won some and he lost some - to him this was the way of life...His philosophy was life is good and to enjoy family and friends. He will forever be remembered as a loving father, brother and friend to mankind.
He was a dedicated worker at Blue Bird Body Company for 19 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents: father, RC Postell, his loving mother, Annie Lou Nixon and two brothers, Henry Lee Nixon and Edward Lee Nixon.
Late Friday evening, November 16, 2018 Melvin received a final call "time-out" from his Heavenly Father as he entered the silent halls of death.
He leaves to cherish his memories: his son, Melvin Bernard Nixon II of Dalton, Massachusetts; step-daughter, Ashley Rose Dunbar of Albany New York; one brother, Willie NIxon of Mamroneck, New York; three sisters, Annie Ruth (Joe) Watkins, of Henderson, Georgia, Ann Nixon of Marshallville, Georgia and Lynn (Charlie) Green of Fort Valley, Georgia; his companion Annie Bell Scott of Perry Georgia; aunts; Willie Lou Bush of Bonaire, Georgia, Ida Mae Kearsey, of Fort Myers, Florida and Bessie Mae Nixon of Miami, Flordia and a tribe of dear neices, nephews, cousins and friends.
Services have been scheduled for Friday, November 23, 2018 at 1:00 at New Hope Baptist Church in Perry, Georgia.
